April Wrap up

We had a wonderful busy month of April.  Here is a wrap up of our last two weeks!

We had a fun Ww day talking about Wind and Weather.  The children loved making their weather wheel.  Have they been practicing their weather forecasting skills?  We also made giant pinwheels that the kids had a blast watching spin. Of course it was a windy day so when we walked outside to wait for moms-the pinwheels were just spinning away!

Our number review day consisted of talking about the numbers 9 and 10.  We made peek-a-boo ladybugs.  The children helped me count their dots to go on their ladybugs back and then helped me count the glue dots before they stuck the correct number to each lady bug's back.  We also did a number review booklet.  I hope you will use it to review the numbers with your kiddos!

Our field trip to the Public Library was great fun.  We learned all about how to take care of books and what is appropriate when we are reading books, both borrowed from the library and from our own libraries at home.  They also had about 30 minutes just to browse through books, magazines, and to play on the computers.  They were really good kids-great behavior!

Our final day in April was our Pirates day!!  Oh my goodness, it couldn't have been any more fun!  Each pirate had to earn their eye patch by coloring "Polly Parrot".  Once they had earned their eye patches, it was all pirate-all day!  My voice was raspy when we were finished from talking pirate all day!  I had a very fun pirate flannel board that the kids had fun playing with and making up stories with.  We also read my two favorite pirate books: "When I Became a Pirate", and "Pirates Don't Change Diapers", both written by Melinda Long and Illustrated by David Shannon.  (If you haven't had the opportunity to read these books-they are a must find!)
We talked all about the history of real pirates, talked about Xx marks the spot and of course used our own treasure map to find some treasure of our own, me hearties!!!  It was a super fun day.
Here are a few pictures from our fun pirate day.  My own little pirate, Landon.  (Presley was also saying, "Argggh" all day long.)

Looks like quite the scary bunch, right?  So so fun!
Now, bring on the month of May.  I think we are ready!
