Shoes and Socks-We decorated and laced our own pair of fancy shoes. It was interesting to me how the kids all decorated their shoes so differently! We talked about matching and pairs and who wears what type of shoes. Also, the letter S! The kids finger painted an S to help reinforce what it looks like and how you make one.
Safety- We talked about personal safety and what things keep us safe. The list we came up with as a class included: Looking both ways before you cross the street, staying with a buddy at all times (at playgrounds etc), obeying street signs, always making sure your parents know where you are, know your phone number and address, and never talk to strangers. It was interesting to hear that the kids were worried about hurting a strangers feelings if they were offered a treat and turned it down. We talked about just being careful wherever we are.
Our St. Patty's celebration was so much fun! We face painted shamrocks or clover on the cheeks and made shamrock headbands. We talked about all of the symbols of St. Patrick's day including rainbows, pots of gold, leprechauns, and clover. We made a cake and while it was baking, the leprechauns came and turned it green! Those sneaky little green guys! We made a fun clover necklace and played some games and topped our celebration off with green cake and milk. I love St. Patrick's day and was so pleased that the kids had such a fun time.
All my Tuesday/Thursday kiddos in GREEN!!

Transportation day was a blast! We talked about all of the different ways we move. The kids were really quick and came up with very creative ideas. Bikes, skates, roller blades, skateboard, skiis, sleds, walking, buses, trucks, cars, trains, planes....the list went on! We then boarded the "learning train" and took a ride. We made our cars and went to the drive in to watch a movie. Popcorn and apple slices topped off our basement drive in experience. We also squeezed in talking about the letter Tt today.
